Monday…
And starting of full day working week for Linda. That means that she is leaving to work at 8:30 and coming back after 18. So I’ve to survive day by myself wandering around the place.

Original plan for the day was that Linda’s mother would pick me up and show around some tourist attractions of Atlanta. However, plan becomes canceled, since Linda can’t contact her. Later on, we will hear that she had to go to work today.

Morning goes, as always, in updating this blog and browsing news and such. But around noon I decide to take a walk around the place; to reinvestigate how far I’m able to go by walking from here, and what I can find.

I take as my first aim to get into ”local” Publix, in order to by some goodies. This time I should be able to reach it since I know now the direction where it is. However, I run out of luck, since there ain’t any walkway leading into correct direction, so no chance to go there. I give up the plan, and walk into another direction, to visit local Circuit City.

When standing in the traffic lights, I wonder why I can’t see anyone else walking anywhere. Everyone seem to be going always by car. And well, no wonder, since getting anywhere by walking is close to impossible here. After a while, I realize that I’ve to wait propably forever since traffic light for pedestrians seems to be broken. I decided to eat the bullet and wait approriate moment to run over to crossing regardless of green light. Interesting, considering that there is three buzy traffic lines to cross in order to get over.

… regardless, I manage to get into my destination and spend some time browsing gadgets in the shop. My interest raises when seeing small portable keyboard for Sony Clie, which has very low price tag. Just 10$ and it would be mine. Too bad that I cannot know if it’s compatible with my Sony Clie, so I pass the offer (for a while). However, when arriving back to home, I check from net specs, and realize that toy was just perfect match for my Clie; gotta buy it tomorrow.

After Circuit City I wandered a bit more into another direction and locate nice Radio Shack store nearby. Lucky day, since that is exactly what I was needingg. So there I go, to seek if something interesting can be found. And surely there is interesting stuff. Immediately when coming in, nice midi keyboard for 99$ raises my interest. Would be nice toy, but transporting it back to Finland would be somewhat painfull. So better to pass that deal right now. Instead, via assistance of very nice salesman I focus into actual interesting stuff. Surely I can find item what I was needing, and it costs only 15$ + 10$ more for for bunch of batteries. Oh, yes, item in question was of course set of portable active speakers for my MP3 player. Now I’ve everything necessary for having music available anywhere… Actually speakers are rather nice.

Update: Speakers are very nice indeed, since play time with 4 * AAA batteries appears to be over 20h, so that is really acceptable performance. Matches nicely playback performance of my Creative Zen (around 20h).

Only bad thing is that I might loose speakers to Linda 🙂

So this was techno toy day…
