On Sunday, we decide to do some exercising by visiting small mountain nearby Linda’s place. Weather is looking very nice so off we go and enter the Civil War memorial site, next to mountain.
We arrive just in time to see short representation and show kept in the field. Small group of ”Confederation” soldiers are exersising in the field, while their great ”General” is providing info to people gathered to watch the show. Surely, this civil war thing is not my concern, while on the other hand I’m keen on history, so I’ve great interest into such stuff.
After the show, we start climbing to mountain top. 1.6km (1mile) walking into uphill takes us into top, from where we can see view upto Atlanta and further.
Kennesaw mountain was during Civil War on battle ground, which was defining turning points in the war. During this battle Confederation soldiers tried to keep hold on Atlanta, quite important transportation and etc. center for them, but after bitter fight for two weeks, they lost the battle and The Union took one important victory in the war.
We spend quite a time browsing exhibit in the memorial place, and browsing through souvenier shop. And ending up into buying collection of post cards. Yes, it is our plan to write them today and send tomorrow.
Our next stop was to visit Marietta Square, from where we found interesting antique store. We spend rather long time browsing inside there. One thing what really attracted me was collection of old cameras, showing interesting time line the development of them. Those cameras definitely differ quite a bit from my Digital Ixus 500!
Surely we managed to buy also something, since table of marbles attracted us greatly. Like children, we browsed through marbles trying to find most beautifull ones for us 🙂
Antiques, among the history, are in my interest list, but we had to leave store behind, and take a walk around the area. We sit for a while in the park, until we decided it’s time for us to proceed with our plans. Once more we needed to visit grocery store, since last time we forgot to buy some sticks for grilling meat-in-a-stick goodies. We don’t manage to get out of the shop without buying doughnuts. Thus after arriving back home Linda starts preparing stuff for grilling and I make some coffee for us to be enjoyed in the balcony with doughnuts.
Quite a bit later (close to 22h) we are finally ready to go to pool to grill our goodies. After spending some time there, barely starting to grill our stuff, some guy drops in to tell us that pool is going to be closed at 22h, so we need to get hurry in preparing our meal.
That was definitely kind of surprise, since we had planned to enjoy our meal next to pool. Once more, we have to adjust our plans, and move or picnic to happen in Linda’s balcony. So we sit and eat, listening Elvis Crespo, and enjoy being together…
