After running every day for five years Antec 450P power supply gave up, and died completely. Appearently earlier it had been slowly starting to fail (causing occasional random system restarts). Thus power died far before manufacturer claimed MTFB (80 000h), but slightly after warranty time (5 vs. 3 years).

Now, it’s replaced by Corsair VX550W, hopefully it will serve better, at least manufacturer is providing 5 year warranty, and it should be also more power efficient (thus electric bill is hopefully slightly reduced).

One determining factor is of course noise level, on which old Antec was rather fine, I’m not yet convinced that Corsair is more quiet, at least quick feeling is that Corsair is tiny bit louder. However, that might be occurring due to resonance, and I may need add some padding into case to reduce that.
