Fourteenth day of the trip began with slightly dissatisfied feelings. I was still feeling a bit sick and Linda was so sick that she decided to stay at home to recover. So, I left Linda at home to recover and took yet another walk, this time meaning business. I walked to Circuit City to buy that Belkin G700 keyboard thingie what I had seen earlier. It was surely looking like a bargain which I couldn’t resist. ok, I got my device and rushed back to home to figure out how to install device. You see, I had small dilemma, Linda’s computer naturally don’t have necessary sync software to allow me to connect my PDA, so I cannot directly download required driver to my device.

Luckily Linda’s camera saved the day, since it is visible as mass storage device to computer. Meaning that I could download driver to MemoryStick and transfer it via it to my Clie. Nice!

Not! Since immediately after installing driver, it seemed that keyboard ain’t working. Only subset of keys seem to work, so I’m disappointed because of wasting money into non-working garbage. okey, but without giving up, I seek into net for updated driver, and naturally find few newer versions, which version by version improve situation. However, since it still seems to be rather non-functional, I give up.

Day brightened up around noon when Linda’s brother did surprise visit. He had decided to engligthen my day, and was surprised to find out that also Sparrow was at home.

Yes, day was a bit brighter so I attack keyboard driver issue again, and this time I find newest updated driver, which actually works reasonably well. So after all I got my new toy working! Just imagining what kind of nice usage I would have with such small pocketable computer setup 🙂

Only slight disappointment seems to be that spacebar is rather ackwardly working. It must be pressed rather presisely, otherwise it won’t register keypress. That naturally causes mistyping and reduces my 2+N finger typing speed.

Update: Actually some annoying problems remain, like occasional system crashes without any appearent reason. But major killer is that one builtin PDA application consistenly crashes just because I press spacebar. Very strange problem indeed 😉

After spending some time at home we decided to do something together and went out to visit some stores. First we went to see ”toy” store, selling various stuff, like scale models, stuffed animals, small thingies, and such. Interesting place, and I ended up spending few bucks for buying small super ball 🙂

After that we went to visit army stores. Lots of interesting stuff, primarily clothes. I spend some time finding out if I could find something to buy, like some practical stuff. Thus I ended up buying one blue used army sweater, similar to one I already have. Surely sparrow will need that when she comes to Finland. I looked after also some coat for wearing in casual outdoor activities, but without success. Sizes simply were not matching me, like XXXL sizes.

After that we went for lunch in one bar chosen by Linda’s brother. We had one big pepperoni pizza, which we shared equally. Okey, we were rather stuffed after that, so we lazily spend time visiting another army store (next to pizza place) to see if there was anything interesting. However, at this point I was becoming a bit tired of looking after this stuff, and surely it was also a bit late since we actually had to leave since they closed store (around 19h).

During evening, after brother dropped as back to home, I started drooling after nice looking digital camrecorder, Panasonic AV100, which I had seen in Circuit City, and checked info for it. Device indeed looked very interesting.

Linda is also feeling much better after brother’s visit, so she ain’t so down anylonger.
