Usual daily routine: getting up, having breakfast and Linda rushing to work. To enlighten day a bit, Linda comes to visit home during lunch hour, in order to pick me up and drop into local mall for the afternoon.
And so we do and I spend whole afternoon, around 5+ hours in the Cobb Town Center Mall walking around and browsing through this’n’that. However, day is definitely not wasted, since it is actually rather enjoyable to have a bit different day for a while.
I do mandatory browsing through clothing stores to find out usefull stuff, like casual summer jacket, which I’ve been looking for. And magically, when walking into first clothes store (Eddie Bauer), I found just perfect jacket on sale, it’s going to be mine with 30$. Regardless, I wait until Linda arrives before buying it, since I want to show it to her first. Sales clerk enlightens my day even more, since by buying this 30$ coat he gives me 25$ gift card, which means that jacket is practically free to me (note: USA has habit of not including sales tax in the prices, so 6% sales tax is coming into top of prices, this habit has been great surprise to me, since in Finland it is mandatory to show prices with tax in the stores).
During whole day, I manage to spend only 1$ (+6% sales tax) in One Dollar Store to buy small gift to Linda. Phew, I’m really throwing money into all directions.
After a long day of walking around, I decide to try infamous Starbucks Cafeteria, and buy big mug of cappuccino (3.5$). hmm.. Not good idea actually, since I’m not so impressed by this Starbucks coffee taste.
Anyway I sit for an hour in Starbucks with toying & writing with my new keyboard thingie with Clie. You recall, that this thingie is pocketable: PDa in one pocket and keyboard in another. Yes, I’ve big pockets. Anyway device seems to somewhat fullfill my needs of having really portable computer with me. Should just upgrade PDA into slightly newer model.
Linda finally arrives from the work around 19h, and we do a bit of browsing around with her. Like revisiting clothes store were I found jacket. Sure, I’m gonna visit there again in nearby future to use my gift card.
After mall, we visit again grocery store in order to buy some food goodies, idea is to grill meat outside, so we buy necessary stuff for that. Nastily I find out another irritating detail when trying to compare prices of goodies. It seems that unit prices are marked in very confusing manner, making comparing them challenging. Some goodies are marked with ”per oz”, others with ”per piece”, and some another with ”per lb”. And yes, we are talking about same packaged meat stuff in all of them. Very confusing and inconvenient.
Our initial plan for today was that we would eat late afternoon, and go then to city and visit Linda’s brother in CNN, where he is in nightshift. It is definitely very exciting for me to get change to get in there and see how this news stuff is put together there. Sadly we have to skip this plan, since we are rather tired, and postpone visit into future. Surely our plans are rather vivid, changing all the time.
