The great trip, became reality early in the cold morning. First night of the year when temperature dropped below 0 degrees, and roads where icy. Day before the trip first snow was falling down in the north Finland. So it was perfect timing to start trip. Night before the trip was almost sleepless, since as always, packing was done in the last possible moment.
At 4h my brother showed up, and dispatched us to airport, for dropping our packages, and getting through security procedures. Actual checkin we did previous day via net (wow, the marvels of modern technology). Around 5h we were at airport, and promptly checked in bagages, and went to wait for boarding of the plane. First step was to fly from Helsinki to Amsterdam, were we were gonna change plane, and continue to Atlanta.
First part of the trip went without any clitches, and we arrived in time to Amsterdam, were we had pleasantly long exchange tim between planes. So no any rushing around. Luckily for both flights I was able to reserve seats with good legspace (yeah, I need *plenty* of that), next to emergency exit.
Flight from Amsterdam to Atlanta was a bit late, but that wasn’t any worry to us anyway; we would get into plane eventually. As side note, I’ve to say that this KLM flight via Amsterdam went MUCH more smoothly than my previous flight via London to Atlanta. In Amsterdam we didn’t need to change airport, so it made switch luxuriously easy, compared to my London experience.
Plane from Amsterdam to Atlanta was Airbus 330, and that means that we had rather nice flight. We watched two movies during the trip, played music, and catched some sleep. Actually I didn’t manage to sleep, which is just normal; I’m not able to really sleep in the plane. However, Linda managed to catch some 2 hours naptime to refresh herself. Ok, servings during the flight were very good. Food and drinks were served all the time, so no problems on that side.
Actually plane managed to catch up with the schedule, so we arrived in time, around 13:30. After which, painfully long imigration procedures at airport started. Procedure was pretty much as awful that in the first trip, taking as almost 2hours to get off the airport.
Linda’s parents & aunt were waiting for us in the airport, and we catched them by surprise. After exchanging greeting, we continued journey to Linda’s parents home, were we’re going to stay until next week.
After arriving ”home”, we were really tired. I had slept only few hours in two days period. And also previous days had been rather buzy, so we went to sleep very early…
